Description
An incredible piece of functional, local Alabama studio art pottery by master craftsman Tom Jones out of Fairhope, AL (Clay City). Hand-thrown and signed on the unglazed foot, this is his collectible Chimney Steamer cooking pot, explicitly dated 3/31/2010. Tom Jones Pottery Designed as a traditional steamer, it features a hollow central chimney cone meant to channel and distribute steam upward when set over a pan of boiling water. It includes a matching domed lid with a classic knob handle and two sturdy integrated lug handles on the sides. The finish is a brilliant earthy combination of a toasted clay-brown base glaze with a beautifully fluid, dripping seafoam / soft teal green glaze accenting the lid, rims, and base ridges. Measurements are included in photos. Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or crazing.
