Description
This exquisite piece showcasing the mastery of French porcelain production features a vibrant inner rim of delicate pink, soft yellow, and lavender floral swags accented by green scrolls. The elegant verge is framed by a rich gold chevron/laurel pattern, leading to a highly unique outer border of detailed brown acorns and oak leaves. The rim is finished with a classic gilt edge. BACKSTAMP & PROVENANCE The underside is fully marked with three distinct stamps confirming its exceptional provenance: 1. J.P. / L. / FRANCE – The green underglaze manufacturing mark used by the Jean Pouyat factory (c. 1906–1932). 2. J. POUYAT / Limoges – The green wreath overglaze decorating mark. 3. S. & G. Gump Co. / Fine Arts / San Francisco – The rare, reddish-brown retailer stamp, dating back to when the historic Gump's luxury department store directly imported high-end European fine art and porcelain for San Francisco’s elite. CONDITION REPORT * Excellent Antique Condition: This plate has been exceptionally well-preserved. * No chips, cracks, hairlines, or crazing. * The porcelain remains bright white, and the detailed transfer pattern and gold gilt trim show minimal to no shelf wear.
