The Willow Pattern is one of the classic blue and white designs, inspired by a Chinese tragic love story. It was popular in Britain during the 18th and 19th centuries and was produced by many manufacturers such as Spode, Minton, and Wedgwood. Willow refers to the willow tree, and the pattern is characterized by depictions of two birds, a pavilion, a small boat, and three figures on a bridge. Booths' Real Old Willow was produced from 1906 to 1980, and after 1981, it was continued by Royal Doulton, which had absorbed the company.
Real Old Willow from the Booths era is currently difficult to obtain and is rare.
This particular item, A8025, is from around 1950.
