Just kidding! Maruishi Kami, Local History, Folk Beliefs, Blessings, Lucky Charms, Buddhist Art, Antiques, Dōsojin
I've always been drawn to collecting unusual items found in rivers, and this stone is one such find. It is a natural object, untouched by human hands. I've visited many rivers, but I've rarely encountered a stone with such perfect symmetry. Therefore, I only have this one.
At the time, I wasn't aware of concepts like Ishimaru Kami (stone deity worship), but I was inexplicably drawn to its presence and brought it home, occasionally displaying it with flowers. It makes me realize that primitive beliefs often stem from acting on intuition rather than overthinking. The base is also a piece of driftwood I found in the river. It has a peculiar shape and a wonderful character. It's said that round shapes bring harmony, so I think it would be lovely to display it as a guardian of your home, at your entrance, or in your entryway, and enjoy it as you please. I'm not knowledgeable about the composition of stones, but this one is surprisingly heavy, and upon closer inspection, its rugged surface sparkles. I'll include the driftwood base as well. Stone dimensions: approximately 9.7 x 7.7 cm (width). Height: approximately 6.5 cm. Base dimensions: approximately 16 x 10.3 cm (width). Height: approximately 5 cm.
