Natural whetstone, Kyoto origin, mountain unknown. This is a finishing whetstone.
I have resurfaced this old whetstone.
It doesn't produce much slurry, but it has good polishing power and is a quality stone.
However, there are significant layer cracks.
It has been reinforced with a thick layer of cashew, so it should not break easily if not used excessively.
There are also signs of delamination, so please examine the photos carefully before considering.
The price is low because it is not in perfect condition.
How about this as a first natural whetstone for beginners?
As it is a natural stone, there may be streaks or lines that were not apparent during my test sharpening.
