Vtg Japanese Geisha Girl Porcelain Demitasse Cup Saucer Set Lot Mismatched READ
Unbranded
Mismatched collection of four distinct vintage Japanese export eggshell porcelain demitasse cups and matching saucers, commonly referred to as Geisha Girl ware. The items are hand-painted and accented with gold enamel detailing over iron-red borders. The assortment includes four unique decorative themes: a Kutani style featuring a geisha framed by a pine tree landscape; a tall pavilion scene cup accented by large butterflies on the saucer; a geometric tri-panel configuration that segments the landscape into three white viewing windows; and an open-composition garden scene showcasing geishas alongside large chrysanthemums. The set consists of thin, lightweight porcelain that semi-translucently filters light. One specific cup and saucer set displays a hand-painted vertical iron-red Kutani mark on the underside of the base, while the remaining three sets do not bear manufacturer backstamps.
