Royal Worcester Evesham Gold Ramekins Set of 6 Small Size Original Box
Royal Worcester
A boxed set of six Royal Worcester Evesham Gold ramekins in the small size, in the original printed carton with its divided blue insert. Each ramekin has the fluted straight sided form of a classic souffle dish, a gold rim, and a hand applied fruit transfer of blackberries, a plum and foliage. The base mark reads ROYAL WORCESTER FINE PORCELAIN, MADE IN ENGLAND, OVEN TO TABLE WARE, with a 1961 copyright and the pattern name Evesham. The box label reads 6 RAMEKINS SMALL SIZE and EVESHAM GOLD. Evesham was introduced by Royal Worcester in 1961 and named for the Vale of Evesham, the fruit growing country in Worcestershire, which is why every piece in the pattern carries a different fruit rather than repeating one motif. It was one of the first English patterns marketed specifically as oven to table ware, made in a vitrified porcelain body that would take direct oven heat and go straight onto the dining table, which is why the shapes are cooking shapes rather than serving shapes. Evesham Gold is the version with the gilt rim, distinguished from the plain Evesham Vale line. Condition is excellent. All six ramekins are present, clean and unused in appearance, with no chips, cracks or crazing found and no oven staining inside. The gold rims are unworn. The carton shows light shelf wear and the insert is intact. Measured against a rule each ramekin stands about two inches tall and three inches across.
