This listing includes both the original advertising lid and its matching ceramic base pot.  The crisp black typography reads: Areco Pond's White Areca Nut Tooth Paste, prepared exclusively by G.P. Pond, Chemist at 68 Fleet Street, London. These two-piece ceramic sets were used by British chemists to sell custom dental pastes prior to the invention of the collapsible metal tube.  Highly sought-after crossover item for collectors of English advertising pots, Victorian apothecary items, dental history, and white ironstone displays.  Condition: Good used condition. Completely original set. Some chips, but no structural cracks to either the lid or the base. Shows gorgeous authentic glaze crazing and minor age toning that confirms its 140+ year history.
