Description
This is a pristine authentic 6” Japanese Satsuma earthenware vase dating to the late Meiji period 1891-1912. This stunning piece features a contrast between the rich matte black (gossu) background and a finely hand painted blue and white landscape. The shoulder and neck are decorated with multicolored floral moriage (raised enamel) dot work and bordered by heavy gold gilding. The base features a hand painted signature for the noted artist Kizan. Natural, fine age appropriate crackle visible to the cream and blue areas. This is pristine, investment-grade, antique condition. This would be a premier addition to any Japanese ceramics collection. Make me an offer.
