Description
Purchased at an antique shop in Kyoto.
Wajima-nuri Sunrise Sweets Plates
Lacquerware, Set of 2
Finished with a calm, deep black and red,
hand-painted, believed to be a folk craft.
These are well-sized with a moderate rim height,
making them practical dishes.
They would also be suitable for serving fresh fruit.
I love ceramics and have accumulated too many,
so I am gradually letting some go as part of decluttering.
I would be happy to pass these on to someone who appreciates the warmth of folk crafts.
Wajima-nuri is said to last for 4,000 to 5,000 years thanks to its thickly layered lacquer coating.
