Vintage MCM Modern Japanese Murashido Patinated Bronze/Brass Bud Vase

Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic mid-century modern (MCM) Japanese art metal bud vase. This exquisite piece features a striking and highly textured turquoise-green verdigris patina, accented by deliberate, exposed fields of bright golden brass/bronze underneath. The stunning mottled pattern is achieved using the traditional Japanese Murashido technique—a historic process where the hot cast alloy is treated with oil and straw smoke to create an organic, one-of-a-kind marbled finish. With its slender neck and bulbous base, this vase is a perfect example of Showa-era design and makes a spectacular vessel for minimalist Ikebana floral arrangements or as a standalone shelf decor statement piece.
