RARE Shimamura Sei Nippon Moriage Plates Antique Hand Painted Meiji Rose 9 Set of 5. Width: 7.25 Stunning, exceptionally preserved matching set of five (5) antique Japanese export porcelain cabinet plates. These pieces bear the authentic underglaze blue hand-painted signature mark for **島村製 (Shimamura-sei / Made by Shimamura), dating them to the late Meiji period to early Taisho era (circa 1900–1920). Shingo Shimamura’s Kyoto workshop was renowned for producing high-end, heavily decorated porcelain designed exclusively for elite Western export markets. Design & Artistry * Moriage Technique: Features heavy, hand-applied beaded icing (Moriage) that creates a stunning 3D texture on the borders. * Hand-Painted: The centers showcase vibrant, romantic pink roses surrounded by lush greenery. * Gilding: Rich gold accents throughout the fluted rims and inner borders. Authenticity: Clearly marked on the reverse, guaranteeing its provenance. * Preservation: The raised Moriage beading remains remarkably crisp and intact. * Surface: Very minor, age-appropriate wear to the gilding consistent with Meiji-era porcelain (c. 1900-1920).
