Water to Paper, Paint to Sky - The Art of Tyrus Wong
Walt Disney Family Museum
300.00 $
Description
Water to Paper, Paint to Sky showcases the art and art exhibit of Tyrus Wong. This catalogue, created by the Walt Disney Family Museum, encompasses the life’s work of Wong who died at age 106. As a Chinese immigrant Wong made his way in America as an artist, producing beautiful landscapes of soft hues, painting silk scarves and porcelain, painting the landscapes of Disney’s animated film Bambi (which changed how Disney films were presented) and finally to making exquisite works that flew over the California sky The Walt Disney Family Museum exhibited Wong’s art from 2013-14. They hoped other organizations would agree to exhibit this beautiful collection. With that in mind a letter was sent to The Society of Illustrators in New York, requesting that they consider this suggestion. This catalogue was included with the letter to represent the beautiful exhibit. I don’t know if the exhibit was ever produced in NYC but the letter shows the provenance of how this book made its way there. No bundling
